On this day, we celebrated  UST High School Batch 89's 30th Anniversary. It was held at the Dr. Robert C. Sy Grand Ballroom, Thomasian Alumni Center, UST.

It was actually the first ever reunion that I ever attended and I truly had a great time.  Congratulations and Thanks to our organizers for a job well done! :)

The Joys of Christmas 2017

Christmas 2017

Christmas time is such a festive holiday that most of December ends up fully-booked with parties, reunions and celebrations with friends and family.  This year, it's especially full with Dylan's first Christmas party at his new school and a jam-packed family celebration too :)

Hope your Christmas celebration is a full and happy as ours! :)  Merry Christmas!!

Mom-daughter bonding at the "Doodling and Lettering" workshop presented by the National Museum and Dong-A

18 May 2017

As part of the National Museum of the Philippines' celebration of International Museum Day as well as a post-Mother's Day activity, the National Museum in partnership with Dong-A Philippines sponsored the Doodling and Lettering for Mothers" workshop and Dana and I had the privilege to attend.  We learned new tricks and were challenged to test our artistic capabilities.  :)

A Happy Mother's Day at Ponte Rialto Ristorante Italiano

14 May 2017

Today is Mother's Day and as a treat, we all went to Ponte Rialto Ristorante Italiano to savor their authentic Italian dishes.  It's been quite a while since we were last there and Patrick thought that since it was Mother's Day today, I deserve a treat and so here we are!

Celebrating Dana's birthday at Sambokojin!! :)

03 March 2017

Today, we celebrated Dana's birthday after finishing up with Dylan's doctor's check-up.  When asked what she wanted to do for her birthday, there was no hesitation when she responded, "Sambokojin!".  I guess, she enjoyed herself so much the last time we were there she wanted to experience it again.  So, we all went back, together with Den and Edwin!

It also helped that Sambokojin has a Birthday Treat Promo :)

The ANA Yose 2017: Rakugo in English event at the RCBC Plaza

19 February 2017

On February 19, Dana and I were fortunate to have won tickets to the ANA Yose 2017 - Rakugo in English show held at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in RCBC Plaza.  Rakugo is a 400-year old Japanese sit-down comedy tradition where the performer, armed only with a fan and an oversized towel, enacts hilarious stories that fire up the imagination.  This year's performance headlines Rakugo Master Kaishi Katsura with Asakichi Katsura (Rakugo Master), Eika Utsumi (Shamisen Musical Performer) and Lucky Mai (Traditional Comic performer).

First Family Outing of 2017 : Star City at the CCP Complex

28 January 2017

Star City is a theme park located at the CCP Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Manila.  It provides hours of enjoyable, thrilling rides, games, entertainment and dining experience for the whole family.  The last time we were here, the kids were still young and so weren't able to experience the more adventurous rides.  Now, we were given 50% discounted tickets and we braved the throng of people on the last weekend of January. Read about how we fared :)

2016 Christmas Celebrations are made special because of FAMILY!

25 December 2016

For a while, the spirit of Christmas waned in our household because, really, the whole of 2016 has been more of "downs" than "ups".  But, it's not in our nature to let that get us down for a long time so we rallied and with the help of Family and Framily (Friends who are Family), Christmas was a blast!

It's not about the gifts - they're very much appreciated but it's really the thought that counts.  It's the presence, and sadly, the absence of the important people in our lives that make celebrating Christmas all the more worthwhile.

Fun Finds at the Christmas Toys and Collectibles 2016

17 December 2016

As Christmas approaches, I pay particular attention to the bazaars and toy fairs that are being held.  I've already inked the Christmas Toys and Collectibles Fair 2016 on my calendar as soon as I saw their ads.   I didn't really have any particular toy in mind but it's always a joy to browse.   I just hated that it was in SM Megamall because parking is terrible there haha So, entrance was P100/head and off we went!

Daniel's 2nd birthday at Philamlife Village Clubhouse, Las Pinas

25 September 2016

We went to Philamlife Village Clubhouse in Las Pinas to celebrate Daniel's 2nd birthday.  We've always considered our family lucky for being invited to Brian and Donna's celebratory milestones with Daniel, their child.  So, the venue may be far and it may have been a long drive but the journey was definitely worth it. Thanks Brian and Donna for always inviting us to your celebrations :)  Happy birthday Daniel! :D

Visiting the PAF Aerospace Museum Aircraft Park

06 August 2016

When the birthday celebration of Grayson Lucas ended at around 2PM, we took the chance to visit the PAF Aerospace Museum Aircraft Park, right on the grounds of the PAF Aerospace Museum.  It was a great chance to be up close and personal with different historic aircraft used by the Philippine Air Force.  This was the first time for me and the kids.  Patrick visited the place when he chaperoned my niece Den during her field trip in school.

The 1st birthday of Grayson Lucas at the PAF Aerospace Museum

06 August 2016

Yesterday, we went to the PAF Aerospace Museum to celebrate Grayson Lucas' 1st birthday.  We were all excited because the kids and I haven't been to the PAF Aerospace Museum before.  So, this was a birthday party, a reunion and an educational field trip rolled into one!
Thanks Jops and Gabs for inviting us!! :)  Happy birthday Grayson Lucas! :)

Day 1 of Toy Con 2016: Part 2 #ToyConPopLifeFanXperience

10 June 2016

This post is a continuation of our experience during the First Day of Toy Con 2016.  The first part of our Day 1 adventures focused on the ToyCon itself, with the Toys and Collectibles booths and exhibits.  This time, it's the PopLife FanX side of the event.  Halls 3 and 4 were dedicated to this part of the event.  Read on to see what the Stan Lee Excelsior Exhibit is all about.  Look at the giant, life-sized Funko Pop figures.  Check out pictures from the press con with Kristian Nairn, Dean Cain and Daniel Logan.

Day 1 of ToyCon 2016: Part 1 #ToyConPH2016

10 June 2016

Today, Patrick and I attended the ToyCon 2016 + Poplife Fan Xperience event at Halls 1-4 of the SMX at the SM Mall of Asia.  The Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention, shortened to "ToyCon", is now on its 15th year and has partnered with PopLife (makers of the popular Funko Pop figures) and Salt Lake Comic Con producers Dan Farr and Bryan Brandenburg to add another dimension to the event with the highly anticipated "Poplife FanXperience".

The event showcases 3 days (June 10-12) of toys, cosplays, exhibits, performances, panels, photo ops and autograph signings.

For today, we saw the Stan Lee Excelsior Exhibit, attended the Press Con and interview panels with celebrities Kristian Nairn (Hodor of Game of Thrones), Dean Cain (Superman of Lois and Clark) and Daniel Logan (Young Boba Fett of Star Wars) and browsed the many booths and displays.

Pio's 4th Birthday Celebration at Kenny Rogers Roasters Katipunan

04 June 2016

Today, we went to Kenny Rogers Roasters in Katipunan to celebrate Pio's 4th Birthday.  We left pretty early to avoid the traffic and we made it in time to slide into the last remaining slot in the parking :)
This was the first time we've attended a birthday party at Kenny Rogers so it was interesting to see how they managed the party.

A night of friendship at Cafe 80s with High School peeps

16 April 2016

Tonight, I had a chance to meet up with some High School buddies of mine at the Cafe 80s Bar in Quezon City.  It's been awhile since I've attended any gathering with them so this was a pleasant opportunity to catch up on everyone.  It was nice to see old friends again and meet some new ones. It was a fun night!

Dana hangs out with her friends for the day

08 April 2016

I am about to write about another milestone in Dana's life.  It's her first time to go out with her friends for the day.  Now, you have to understand, Dana hasn't gone anywhere without us, except maybe with her class on their retreat.  Even with their educational field trips we were always with her.  This is the first time she's going anywhere by herself, even though it's with her friends.

They've made plans for this day out after their graduation and she has been really excited about it.  I, on the other hand, was more worried because she doesn't know how to commute because she's had the privilege of being driven around in a car.  Yes, she's ridden public transportation but she hasn't really paid attention to roads and locations because she was with us.  So, I knew that I had to teach her how to commute by herself first.  We looked at Google maps so she'll know where she's going and how she's going to return.  It's easier to picture everything when it's visual and there are references.  She's familiar with the area that they're going to so that's a plus.  I also told her how to commute using the jeepney, like where to get off, how much to pay and what to do next if she misses her stop.  I knew she was nervous but I trust that she understood.
