Review: What I loved about the Ford Everest Titanium 3.2L 4x2 AT

22 May 2019

We took the Ford Everest Titanium 3.2L 4x2 AT for a drive to Tagaytay and back to Manila on two separate occasions, first in April and then with this trip and I can honestly say it's one of the most comfortable trips I've had :)

Though I'm just a passenger and I can't say much about the ease of driving and the handling, I can remark about how comfortable I felt while riding in the Ford Everest Titanium.

I'll list down my favorites, so read on!

Driving Directions from Baguio to Manila via Naguilian Road, including 2 new roads (2018)

28 November 2018

Our 3 Day trip in Baguio has come to an end and it's time to get back to Manila.  We came up using Marcos Highway but on our way back, we were advised (by Waze) to take the Naguilian Road.

We decided to try it since we didn't have to go back to the City Center and we thought it's best to try all roads leading to and from Baguio just for the experience.

It's pretty much a straightforward drive but it took us almost 4 hours just to reach the TPLEX Toll Gate in Pozorrubio.

Driving Directions to Baguio from Manila via TPLEX and Marcos Highway (2018)

26  November 2018

Last September 2016, we traveled to Baguio via the TPLEX and Kennon Road and this post was supposed to be an update to it.  However, we had to take Marcos Highway because Kennon Road was closed to traffic due to falling rocks.

Regardless, I hope it still helps since, now, we exited at the Pozorrubio Gate instead of Binalonan, which was the last open exit at the TPLEX at that time.

Toll fees are also included in this post.

22 August 2018

Last August 19, the Presidential Car Museum was opened to the public.  It is located at the Quezon Memorial circle and is open Tuesdays to Saturdays 8AM to 4PM.  Admission is FREE.

Today, we went for a visit and check out what's in store for you! :)

Ford Family Safety Day: Part 2 - For the Kids

2018 July 14

Today we joined in Ford Philippines' Family Safety Day at the Megatent Events venue in Quezon City.  This was part of Ford PH's Driving Skills for Life advocacy for educating drivers on smart, safe and fuel-efficient driving.

This post is the Kids' version where the kids were taught some safety precautions on the road.

Ford Family Safety Day: Part 1 - For Parents and Adults

2018 July 14

Today, we attended the Family Safety Day event sponsored by Ford Philippines in line with their Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) advocacy which aims to educate drivers on smart, safe and fuel-efficient driving.

This first part discusses the highlights of the seminar and the practical driving training.

I learned so much!

An afternoon at the BMW Xpo 2017

17 September 2017

After our biking adventure earlier in the day, we headed to the BMW Xpo 2017 which was just across the street.  Models on display include vehicles from the BMW 5 and 7 Series, including motorcycles from BMW Motorrad.  There was also a test drive area for customers.  Kids also had a special section.

The Hyundai Veloster, Ma Mon Luk and walking around SM Mall of Asia

23 April 2017

So Patrick has had the Hyundai Veloster for the week and this is the last day we're able to ride in it as a family.  We took it for a ride to the 2017 Trans Sport Show.  This post is about the day that we had - dining at Ma Mon Luk and stuff we bought while walking around SM Mall of Asia after we took a break from the Trans Sport Show.

Walking around the 2017 Trans Sport Show

23 April 2017

It's summer and it's time for another car show!  This time, we went to the 2017 Trans Sport Show held between April 20-23 at the SMX Convention Center.  Patrick actually covered the event for Carmudi, so if you want to see better photos of the cars, check out the article here.  The Trans Sport Show's main attraction is the Nostalgic and Contemporary Car Competition but there are other events like the Moto Builds Pilipinas and plenty of automotive after-sales, custom-build services and related businesses to complete the experience.

2017 MIAS: 13th Annual Manila International Auto Show

02 April 2017

We've always gone to the annual Manila International Auto Shows.  This time, it's a bit special because it's Patrick's first MIAS event that he's covering under the Carmudi group.  Though the event itself goes on for four days (March 30 - April 02) at the World Trade Center, we only came with him on the last day.  But still, we all were excited at seeing all these brand new cars! :)

A Day in the Life - Favorites: Toyota 86, Lego and Charlie's Burgers

01 April 2017

When you have a car as awesome as the Toyota 86 delivered to your home (in our case, as a test drive vehicle) what will you do?  Well, of course! Take it for a spin!  I remember the last time we had a Toyota 86 for a week, Patrick really did take it for a spin - drifting it at a parking lot no less!  But, we're not doing that again. Instead, we just went for our favorites - Lego and great burgers at Charlie's Grind and Grill (Pasig).

My impressions of the 2016 Mazda CX-5 Diesel Variant

29 September 2016

For about five (5) days, our family had the privilege of test driving the new 2016 Mazda CX-5 Diesel variant.  This post contains my impressions of the Mazda CX-5 from the point of view of the passenger, not a driver since I'm not one.  I'm going to say things about how I felt riding in the car.  I'm going to say how my kids felt riding in the car.  Our test drive took us around Las Pinas and all the way to Baguio City, giving us a really good picture of how the Mazda CX-5 handles itself in different road and weather conditions.

Driving Directions from Baguio to Manila via Marcos Highway

30 September 2016

There are three main roads in and out of Baguio: Kennon Road, Palispis Highway (also known as Marcos Highway) and Naguilian Road.  If you're coming from Manila via the SCTEX and the TPLEX, Kennon Road and Marcos Highway are the routes that you can choose to pass through to get to Baguio.  Naguilian Road is ideal if you're passing through the coastal MacArthur Highway.

During our Baguio trip, we drove on Kennon Road to get to Baguio but we were forced to take Marcos Highway on the return trip because Kennon Road was closed for repairs.  Historically, Kennon Road gets closed down most often because of the threat of landslides especially during the rainy season.  It's better to check advisories if you're planning your trip.

Driving Directions to Baguio via TPLEX and Kennon Road

26 September 2016

If you're coming from Manila, the ideal way to start your journey to Baguio is via the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) with Balintawak as your entry point.  We paid P55 at the Toll Gate since we were driving a Class 1 vehicle.  From here to Baguio, you will drive more than 230 kilometers for about 4 hours.  There are many gasoline stations with restaurants, shops and restrooms along the way should you feel the need to refuel, dine, shop or use the restrooms.

Update:  Via Marcos Highway with 2018 Toll Fees

Trip to Pililla Wind Farm: Directions and Other Info

30 April 2016

The last time we went looking for the Pililla Wind Farm, we didn't actually end up getting there.  You can read about our journey here.  This time, we decided on traveling the route we were originally on (the Sampaloc-Tanay road) before we turned around and drove down via the less-known route from near Camp Capinpin.  At the 54MW Pililla Rizal Wind Farm, we were up close and personal with six (6) 125-meter tall wind turbines capable of generating 2MW of power.  From here, we also saw a row of 9 more wind turbines at a different location, presumably along the same road which we weren't able to access at this time.

Trip to Pililia Wind Farm: Lunch first at Cafe Katerina

30 April 2016

Yesterday, we decided that since Patrick was test driving the new Hyundai Tucson for Top Gear Philippines, we could go back to the Pililia Wind Farm and see if we could actually finish what we started before (read about our previous trip here).  We left the house at 10AM and arrived around lunchtime at our first stop, Cafe Katerina. Cafe Katerina is a restaurant offering Filipino dishes located atop a hill affording a scenic overlook of the Tanay, Rizal area all the way to Laguna de Bay.

The Isuzu 4x4 Action Playground at the SM Mall of Asia #IsuzuPhilippines ‪#‎MyIsuzuActionPlaygroundExperience‬

21 April 2016

Today, we attended the opening of the Isuzu 4x4 Action Playground at the Exploreum Parking of the SM Mall of Asia.  The event features both the Isuzu mu-X and the D-Max as they both take on the Slipper Roller, the Articulation Ramp and the Action Playground's Highlight - the 20ft Thrill Hill, a 40 degree Transverse Angle Ramp.  The obstacle course showcases the powerful engines (163 PS maximum output and 380Nm maximum torque) of both vehicles and everyone is invited to participate from April 21-24, 10AM to 9PM.

2016 Chevrolet Trax Launch Party at the Palace Pool Club

14 October 2015

It seems that October is a busy period in our household.  There have been birthdays, an out of town trip, somebody getting down with dengue (I'll get to that in a different post), and that's just for the first half of the month!  Add to the list this event that Patrick and I attended - the launching of the 2016 Chevrolet Trax at the Palace Pool Club in Bonfiacio Global City, Taguig.

Patrick has brought me with him to many of his car events.  What made this special is the location.  This was the first time we had the privilege of coming to the Palace Pool Club and the concept of this establishment was certainly intriguing.  A pool (2 actually) and a club/bar in the middle of the Bonifacio Global City CBD! :)

A Day at the 2015 Toyota Vios Cup Season 2

One of the best things about Patrick's job as a motoring journalist and now producer of a motoring TV show is that the kids are exposed to events that are not on the normal list of things to do.  Take for instance today's adventure - experiencing the activities at the 2015 Toyota Vios Cup Season 2 at the SM Mall of Asia.
