Today we joined in Ford Philippines' Family Safety Day at the Megatent Events venue in Quezon City. This was part of Ford PH's Driving Skills for Life advocacy for educating drivers on smart, safe and fuel-efficient driving.
This post is the Kids' version where the kids were taught some safety precautions on the road.
While the parents and other adults were participating in the Family Safety Day seminar (read the Ford Family Safety Day - For Parents and Adults post), the kids were invited to a lecture on road safety precautions.
The kids were listening attentively while they were educated on safety rules in the car and on the road. They were instructed to always wear seatbelts in their vehicles and to stay in child safety seats when applicable (like if they're infants or under 13).
They were also educated on crossing the road and wearing safety helmets and additional equipment like elbow and knee guards while on bikes.
There was a brief photo shoot with one of the hosts of today's event, JP Tuason of Tuason Racing School.
Afterward, the kids were allowed to step into the track and practice what they've learned with regards to speeding, braking, respecting the pedestrian lane and courtesy to other drivers.
Both Dana and Dylan had a good time riding these "trikes".
While parents and adults certainly already know the importance of being responsible drivers, it is also a valuable lesson to impart to kids and have them learn it even at a young age. Starting them young and setting the right examples will put more responsible drivers on the road in the future.
Thank you Ford Philippines for this opportunity!
