Visiting the Presidential Car Museum at the Quezon Memorial Circle

22 August 2018

Last August 19, the Presidential Car Museum was opened to the public.  It is located at the Quezon Memorial circle and is open Tuesdays to Saturdays 8AM to 4PM.  Admission is FREE.

Today, we went for a visit and check out what's in store for you! :)

The Presidential Car Museum is the 24th Museum to open in the Philippines.  As the name suggests, it showcases the different Presidential vehicles used by Philippine Presidents throughout history.  It also has several historically significant vehicles and artifacts.

The building itself is located within the Quezon Memorial Circle grounds,  near the Quezon Memorial Circle exit, almost fronting the former National Housing Authority Building.  It can be confusing, as we too were confused initially :)  But from the entrance, the parking lot is quite near and you'll see a "Coconuts" eatery along a stretch of food kiosks.  Simply follow the way to the exit and you'll find the building on the right side.

The first thing you'll see upon entering the museum, apart from the receptionist area and the souvenir shop is this:  It is the "Introduction" to the exhibit.

At its back is this interactive wall display, where you can learn more about the special parts of the cars and other details about the Presidents of the Philippines.

In total, there are currently twelve (12) Presidential cars on display.  Let's take a look :

9.  Mercedes-Benz 500SEL of former President Corazon Aquino

Apart from the Presidential cars, there's also a special display for vehicles used by significant people in Philippine History, such as:

1.  Cadillac V16 Transformable Town Car Cabriolet used by former President Manuel Quezon and General Douglas McArthur

2.  Kalesa / Horse Carriage used by Leon Apacible, one of the authors of the 1899 Constitution in Malolos
(Side Note:  Dylan was wondering where the horse went hehe)

3.  Willys Jeep donated by General Douglas McArthur that served as the vehicle of Secretary of National Defense Ramon Magsaysay during the Quirino Administration

 4.  Rolls-Royce Phantom V of former First Lady Imelda Marcos

Aside from the cars, there were also several interesting artifacts on display, like:

President Emilio Aguinaldo's Salakot

Leather map case , pistol, binoculars and compass (R-L) used during the Revolutionary War

Since it has only recently opened, it was a pleasant visit with only a few people around, although there were groups of Girl Scouts being toured around the museum when we first got in.

The Security Guard at the Quezon Memorial Shrine was incredibly helpful and accommodating when we asked him for directions to the Museum.
