Manila Ocean Park 2016: The Back of the House

13 October 2016

The Back of the House is a "behind-the-scenes" look at how Manila Ocean Park operates.  This is where you'll learn how animals are taken care of, how the water from the Manila Bay is filtered to make it suitable for marine operations.

It may not seem interesting at first because you don't really know what's going on, so a walk-through may take you only around 5 minutes.  But this attraction is actually very educational.  I just wish that someone was there to explain things to us as we went around.

It opens at 11AM and last entry is at 5:30PM.

We took this picture before entering the "Back of the House".  At our back is the Fish Spa.

Once you go through the door, you'll see the Breeding Room.  In it, when viewed from the hallway, are fish tanks that I assume are where they breed the fish.

I don't really know what this is, except that it's a "Biological Chiller".  It kind of reminded me of Resident Evil, for some reason :)

There was also an Animal Care Center but nothing was happening there at the moment.

I took this video of the main part of the Back of the House exhibit.  This is where the filtration process happens, in addition to where they prepare the food for the animals.  I strongly advise you to hang on to your kids while in this room because they can easily fall into the water if they're not careful.

The whole attraction can be seen in 5 minutes, maybe longer if there's someone to explain what's happening.
