Review: Our Stay at SM Wind Terraces Tagaytay through Airbnb

26 - 28 April 2019

This is our first time to book a place to stay via Airbnb and we don't regret it.  We booked a condo unit at the SM Wind Terraces in Tagaytay for our 3D/2N weekend getaway.  It was located in Tower 1, at the 16th Floor.

We only had a budget of P2K-P3K and we were pleased with our decision not just because of the location and the actual unit but also, the host, Luis, and his caretaker, Wendy, were both gracious and easy to talk with.

Check out our stay :)

You're probably wondering why we decided to book through Airbnb when Tagaytay is known for having a great many choices for accommodations.  Honestly, it's only because we wanted to try it out and compare the experience against staying in hotels and other budget-friendly accommodations, both of which we've tried during our previous trips to the area.

Here are the reasons why we choose this particular listing from Luis:

  • It had a great location - The view from our balcony, visible through the windows too

  • It had 3 beds - 1 Queen bed and 2 single beds, perfect for the 4 of us.  We just put the top mattress on the floor beside the Queen bed.

  • It was spacious.  It was originally one bedroom but was converted into a studio.  It wasn't cluttered with excess furniture too.  As you can see from the photo, there's enough room for 4 without having to bump into each other all the time.

    • It has complete amenities to make your stay comfortable and convenient.

The Bathroom - Complete with Hot Water, towels, soap, shampoo and toothpaste

The Kitchen Counter - with a Ref, Microwave, Electric Kettle, Rice Cooker Stove,
Dishes, Glasses, Utensils, a Pan and a Pot

    • There was also a TV with a TV Plus and High-Speed Internet
    • The room was also conveniently equipped with a split-type aircon although if you prefer the natural cold climate of Tagaytay, you can simply open the windows and turn on the room ceiling fans:)
    • The dining table can also be used as your workspace and can be extended to make room for more people.
    • Best reason:  It fit our budget range of P2K - P3K/night.  We booked this room for only P2K/night.  Like any Airbnb hosting, there may be additional charges like cleaning fee and other conditions for your stay but everything that was posted on the ad was exact.  Also, Luis the host and his caretaker really were accommodating and gracious and that's a Big Plus too :)

Just to note though, that if you want to use the facilities in the SM Wind Terraces Clubhouse, you have to pay certain fees directly to the Payment Center in Tower 5.  They're open from 9AM to 6PM.

That's what we did because we wanted to take advantage of the swimming pool :)  We went to Tower 5 on the morning of our second day.  It was quite a walk from Tower 1 but it was okay because it was windy and cool :)

We reached the Admin Office (LG) because we were told we needed to get our "vouchers" there which we'll present to the Clubhouse so we can swim in the pool.

After, we were redirected to the Payment Center where they had this notice on display :)

Swimming costs P150/guest for regular days and P300 for holidays.  Basketball courts cost P50/head with additional fees for electricity between 6PM-10PM.  Badminton courts cost P200/hour.  Tennis courts cost P50/head and additional costs for night use. We paid for 3 guests :)

These are some photos from the lobby of the building.

This is the Clubhouse, with the pool.  Sorry if it's not too clear :)

After 3 days in the condo, we left feeling refreshed and we can't wait to go back and book this unit again.

Oh and before I forget, Luis also offers guest access for those interested to travel to Pico de Loro.  Applicable guest fees are paid at the site.

Thanks Luis!  Thanks Wendy!  :)  See you again! :)
