Over the course of a few weeks, Dylan, his classmates and the rest of the school have been busy preparing for the 97th Founding Anniversary of the Legarda Elementary School.
This is Dylan's first social gathering with his new classmates since his teacher resigned and I'm certainly proud of him for adjusting well and participating fully with their dance routine.
While students were busy practicing with their special dance routine for the program, parents spent a lot of time helping teachers with preparing the props for the kids. What you see on Dylan's head was painstakingly yet lovingly drawn, cut, painted and strapped by parents so Dylan was proudly showing it off when it was done :)
Here are Dylan's new classmates while waiting for their practice time :) I was glad to see them all having fun together. :)
On the day of their Field Demo, they were only asked to wear their PE Uniforms but they had to wear gloves as additional accessories :)
Then came the commemorative picture :)
Then, they were asked to assemble on the covered court. Since they were the first to perform, everyone was in high spirits :)
It's hard to take a video during the actual program since there will undoubtedly by people standing up and taking photos and videos. I was fortunate to have taken a video of Dylan when they were practicing the day before. Still, I tried my best to record their performance on the day itself.
The kids were grouped into 2. The first group belonged to the Gifted and Talented sections and the other were from the SPED department. Dylan and the others together with him on the line between these two groups belonged to SPED but were challenged to follow the routine of the GT Sections. Their dance routine was more complicated than the SPED group. Still, Dylan was somewhat able to follow so that was good :D
Admittedly Dylan's performance during the actual Foundation Day was a bit lackluster. It was probably because they were asked to be at school at 630AM but the program and their dance started around 830AM. Some of the younger Autism kids were also at the end of their rope by the time their field demo started.
Still, it was another achievement in performance because what's important is that they participated and successfully completed the dance routine so Congratulations Everyone!
