Dylan's swimming outing with classmates at SM Sun Residences

23 August 2019

Condominiums with pools are sprouting in Manila and residents (and their guests) have the privilege of swimming at their leisure.  This post tells of Dylan's outing with his classmates and provides a few details on what to expect if you were to swim at SM Sun Residences.

Today, Dylan and his classmates were treated to a swimming outing at SM Sun Residences.  Their teacher, who currently resides there, arranged for them to have the whole day to swim.  As far as I know, guests are limited to 2 per unit.  Their teacher had to ask her other friends to "sponsor" Dylan's classmates coupons :)  I think there's also a P150 per head charge for guests.

We were met at the lobby by his Teacher and were given the coupon/pass.  We proceeded to the 6th Floor where the pool area was.

He changed in the male restroom (one shower room and one toilet) and showered first before dipping into the pool.

His classmates soon arrived.  The pools were not deep, around 4 feet at the deepest so the kids were confident moving between pools.  Unfortunately, their teacher got called away but we were told that we could stay the whole day if we wanted.

As much as we parents also wanted to swim, we couldn't because the coupons were limited.  But, I think if we were to look at the pool rules which state that parents should accompany their children, especially when they're this small, I guess we could swim with the kids even without coupons.  After all, there's no lifeguard available and who else would take care of the kids when something goes wrong in the water, right?

Dylan liked laying down on this "island" between the two pools but he had to cover his ears because of the water hehe

One parent did go in to swim because her child had a tendency to run away :)  In fact, she almost made it to the other pool before we caught up with her.. That was a rush!

Dylan also tried putting his head underwater.  That was actually our goal.  He doesn't know how to swim yet and he's scared of dipping his head underwater, so this picture means a lot!

When it was lunchtime, we called Jollibee for our meals.  We planned on eating near the pool so that after, if the kids still wanted to swim some more, they can still go back in the water.  However, when the delivery guy arrived with our meal, the guard wouldn't let him in.  It was then apparent that there was no eating at the pool area.

The kids were getting cranky because they saw that the food had arrived and were eager to get a move on.  After talking with the guard, she was gracious enough to let us eat our meal at the lobby area of the 6th Floor, but only if we could make it appear that we're feeding the kids. :)  It was quite disappointing that guests can't eat there or anywhere, so that's something for you to be aware of.  You really are only allowed to swim and nothing else :)

Anyway, since we had all dried off and changed clothes to be able to eat at the lobby (you're not supposed to get out while you're wet), we all decided to just end our day there and head home after.  Being unable to eat poolside dampened our spirits.

Still, we're grateful for being able to swim!  The kids enjoyed themselves immensely.  We just wished that Teacher was able to stay with us longer...  Hopefully we can find a better venue for swimming in the future :)
