We have reached that time of the year when school year 2017-2018 ends. It's March 23 and today is Dylan's Recognition Day.
We have to commend their teachers for pushing the schedule for today. Their Recognition Day was originally scheduled in April, after Holy Week. Despite the short notice, they were able to pull off a worthy Recognition Day for the kids!
Dylan's Class' Recognition Day was held together with two other classes in the Special Education Department. Most of Dylan's classmates were familiar with the other students because they have the same schedule in the afternoon, however, some were not so comfortable and refused to stay in their seats. The teachers were very patient reigning everyone in :)
Dylan was awarded Most Articulate and Huwarang Mag-aaral!The Most Articulate award is especially heart-warming considering he had undergone a year of Speech Therapy when he was younger. The Huwarang Mag-aaral award was equally appreciated because it showed that Dylan was behaved in school, following instructions properly, had a high rate in attendance and cooperative with everyone.
His other classmates also got their awards and when all the classes were done, we returned to our own classroom for some snacks. Parents brought their share of food and drinks and we all had fun filling our stomachs :)
From the pictures below, where all the kids were seated at their tables, this was such a major improvement and a testament to Teacher Ressie's instructions. When they started school before, you couldn't get them to sit quietly at their places. But look at them now. They're using their utensils properly and nobody is grabbing food from other's plates! Good job kids!
This year has been a fruitful one, not just for Dylan, but for the whole class. We started with a bare classroom but the parents and Teacher pulled together to improve it. It took a few projects over the course of a year but we got the job done :) So this Recognition Day is also in celebration of all our hard work too :)
Congratulations to everyone!! See you next year! :)
