Dana's Recognition Day, AY 2018-2019

03 April 2019

When his teacher told Dylan that he'll be going up the stage to receive a medal, he was so happy and he said, "Wow, I'm going to be like Ate Dana!"

Well, it's true because today, Dana did go up the stage and received her very own medal for exemplary performance this school year! :)

We're so proud of you Dana!  Keep up the good work!

The simple joys of Dylan's birthday

18 March 2017

Dylan's birthday came bright and early.  We all had a hand in choosing the activities for Dylan's birthday and everyone was just itching to get on with the plans.  It was rather hard to narrow down the choices because, after all, we just wanted Dylan to have what he wants but due to time and financial constraints, naturally we had to compromise.  The following post tells of what we ended up with.

Fantastic Beasts and Krispy Kreme during the kids' day out :)

12 December 2016

There are days when your plan seemed to go awry but actually ending up being better than you hoped.  This was one of those days. Patrick and I were just supposed to do our errands and bring the kids back some Krispy Kreme (as they asked) but we were too early for their promo so I simply went back and brought the kids with me instead, so they had their Kids' Day Out!

We watched Captain America Civil War twice!

28- 29 April 2016

Image result for captain america civil warLast April 28, Dana and her friends made plans to hang out in Greenhills.  Seeing as Patrick was out of town, Dylan and I decided to go with her although of course, I told her that when we got there Dylan and I will separate from her and her group.  It turned out that Dylan and I went ahead of them because some of her friends weren't there yet at their meeting place.  I told her to text me when they arrive in Greenhills.

Watching Heneral Luna

Patrick and I don't often get to watch a movie by ourselves but when we first saw the trailer of Heneral Luna while watching Ant-Man with Dylan, we decided that it was something that we'd be interested in watching.  That in itself is a big thing because we don't really watch Filipino movies.  So, now we got a chance to watch Heneral Luna in Robinsons Manila.

Dana's 6th Birthday

We didn't celebrate Dana's 6th birthday with a party.  The day coincided with her Final Exams so naturally, time should be devoted to studying (yeah right!) hahaha  I just bought some pancit malabon from our favorite store, Patrick brought some ice cream when he came home and that was Dana's party :)  The important thing was that she knew we remembered and that we're together as a family to celebrate it :) I did still promise her that on the weekend, we'll have our very own Mama-and-Daughter Day Out to celebrate her birthday.

Alice in Wonderland [Blu-ray]So, on Saturday after her exams, Dana and I went to Gateway Cineplex 10 in Cubao to watch Alice in Wonderland.  Silly me, I haven't been to the theater in so long and I'm amazed that 3D is back LOL I never really liked 3D - blame it on my wacky eyesight but I'm content with 2D films hahahha and the price, oh the price!! It was almost double the regular ticket price of movies.. man! it's no wonder the government can't really staunch the proliferation of pirated DVD movies.. most people (I think) can't afford to spend this much on movies! :O

Anyway,  so Dana and I still went through with it.  Of course, naturally, she enjoyed it as it was her first 3D movie ever!

After the movie, we were hungry so we ate at Reyes Barbecue at the Food Court of the Gateway Mall.  Having regained some of our energy back, we both decided to go shopping like the good girls that we are LOL

We ended up buying swimwear and swimming implements for our upcoming summer trip :)

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

June 27, 2009 - It was a rare Saturday for all six of us to be up and about. The reason was we're to be at Glorietta 4 to watch a special screening of the movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. It was a promotional event sponsored by Petron where Patrick (as part of Top Gear) got free tickets to the event. They even gave out P1200 worth of gift certificates from Burger King, free popcorn and a souvenir photo.

The whole cinema was packed and we ended up sitting two rows from the front. Dana and Dylan got booster seats so they'll be much more comfortable (that was great of them!). Since we knew that we were going to watch this movie, we saw to it that we watched the first movie to get back into the action hahaha

Dylan of course loved both movies and his first complete three syllable word is "Bumblebee"! hahahaha

I loved it as well and I won't tell much more of the story just in case you haven't watched it yet ;) If you get the chance don't miss it.. It's really worth it! :) Patrick and I wanted to watch it again but this time on IMAX but tickets are sold out! LOL

3-Day Weekend

It was a 3-day weekend for us. In the Philippines, we have something called "holiday economics" in which holidays that land on the weekdays are automatically moved to either Monday or Friday to encourage domestic spending over the weekend. People who want to travel locally without having to file a day off from work which is great.

Anyway, I also took a break from my writing because I wanted to spend time with the kids. When I'm writing naturally I'm more focused on it and can sometimes neglect to give them the attention that they need. So to make up for it, we stayed at home, had fun watching movies and we experimented with some recipes we had :) Dana helped with the cooking :) Oh and I also had my hair cut which was really overdue! Now, my head feels lighter LOL

We watched The Dark Crystal, which has been a favorite of mine (and of Patrick) from our "younger" days LOL We wanted the kids to appreciate it as much as we did. Funny enough, even Den (the teen) liked the movie :)

Oh and we also watched "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" too hahaha I liked it! Now, if only I had Book 6, our collection will be complete hahaha

We also watched "The Golden Compass" and the kids loved it, especially Dylan because of the bear!

The movie, "Willow" was also a trip down memory lane :) This one starred Warwick Davis, Val Kilmer, Joanne Whalley and produced by George Lucas :)
